FINALLY! A reprieve.

Yesterday, upon leaving the house, it was 60 degrees.  Since the boys live in Pennsylvania, which this winter has been the great frozen north in comparison to us (12 miles south), it was in the 50s and there was far more snow on the ground.

But still.... THE FIFTIES!

Omg omg omg omg omg.

That meant that some stuff was pulled out that hadn't seen the light of day in what felt like ages.

This shit just got serious.
He stood incredibly well for saddling, which has been a challenge in the past but has improved since changing up the configuration of the saddle.  My only problem was that he kept reaching around to lick me, which made centering the treeless saddle very challenging.

At one point he did pull up suddenly when I was buckling his bridle.  Call me crazy, but I think I accidentally caught a hair.

Peanut wasn't the only one who had to remember his side of the human/horse contract.

It really was warm that day.  Really.  Honest.
The trails were a sodden disaster and very delicate, so we just took a very short jaunt around the farm.  We had to basically stay off of the grass because we would leave large divots.  The driveway was inundated with the melt water, so with every step Peanut made bloop bloop sounds instead of clip clop.

As part of our side of the human/horse contract, we made sure that they were well rewarded for their brief servitude.  They were very happy to see what the melting snow was revealing.

There will be more snow next week, and the temperatures are going to dive again.  Sigh.

What the hell have you tied on his back?! That's the funniest looking blanket I've ever seen ;)

(Congrats on your brief taste of spring - I think it's gone again now, isn't it?)
